SURVEY RESULTS

As you can see from the result above, 54 people have participated in the survey. 42 of them (or 77.8%) have indicated that they’d like to continue seeing “The Love River” while the other 12 participants have indicated otherwise.

I’ve also looked through the comments, though not many, left by some of the participants. I’d like to address two concerns.

One, I simply want to thank those who’ve left me comments and letting me know that they really appreciate my subs and thanking me taking time off to do them. I’d like to thank those individuals too; it is your appreciation and encouragement that keeps me going in the midst of all the copyrights conflict. Therefore, a big thank you to you guys too.

Two, there are others who have indicated that they want a discontinuation of “The Love River” but they are hoping to see subs for another Taiwanese or Korean drama. Frankly speaking, I’d love to do that. But, there’s the big ‘C’ and I’m not talking about a car. The copyrights issue is a pain in the neck for us subbers. Like always mentioned, I (and the other online subbers) have nothing to gain from uploading their work. In fact, if you look at it from another perspective, we’re actually helping with the publicity of the drama and cast. And even if we were to speak in stricter and more stringent terms, for example when we ask for donations (i.e.: monetary gains), we’re doing that for OUR SUBS and NOT their work.( I know some dramas do come with subs later on that are available for purchase BUT I’ve received so many complaints from users that the subs don’t make sense at times) When will they realize that it’s a complementary thing; the video without subs makes no sense and vice versa, although, I’d say, we could just publish our subs as .ssa formats and then get users to download the videos on their own and encode the subs. But then again, some users aren’t so tech-savvy to do so (no offense to anyone) and it’s so much more inconvenient if we were to do that. And  for those who still don’t know, the Taiwanese media industry has followed in Korean media industry’s footsteps and joined in the copyrights chase. When I last heard, it was just some of the TV stations in Taiwan that are involved. But as we all know, this is like chickenpox; it’s highly contagious and infectious. Before you know, it will be like the case of South Korea where all TV stations get “infected” with it. Therefore I can’t upload any and every Taiwanese or Korean drama/show/variety that you and I are interested in. For example, I was actually subbing the Dalgona episode with Taecyeon and Wooyoung the other day but had to stop in the end because the users who uploaded cuts from the episode got suspended. “The Love River” is still RELATIVELY safer because it didn’t really air in Taiwan until much later on and raws I’ve on hand aren’t from the Taiwanese TV stations that aired the show.

As such, I won’t be embarking on any new dramas/shows/variety until further notice. There may be cuts from here and there but there are no promises about that. As for “The Love River”; because the percentage was over 70% and I’ve learnt in statistics before that 50 is an “OK” sample size (not the best but well still can be used), I shall continue subbing “The Love River” as much as I can and I’ll check with you guys now and then about the response as time passes.

By the way, the response for the novel version of “Love Keeps Going” isn’t so good but I’ll do some translations as and when I can and again, I’ll check with you guys now and then about the response as time passes. I’ll also try my best to write a few chapters of a new fan fiction piece that I’ve thought about.

Alright then. That’s all for now folks. I’ll try my best to keep you guys updated about things. Once again, thank you to those who have participated in the survey and I wish you guys a very happy and enjoyable weekend ahead!
